Born and raised in Belfast, Aaron spent his childhood playing any and every sport possible. This enthusiasm for sport encouraged Aaron to further his education in the field.
Aaron is a Sport and Exercise Science Graduate from Loughborough University, who brings experience in performance analysis and data science. He now applies his skills at Minute9, continuing to build on his knowledge in the field.
Ashley has spent 20 years working in a variety of roles within the sports sector. These include teaching, grassroots/academy football coaching and coach education/mentoring, as well as the oversight of sports governance strategies within football governing bodies.
Ashley is currently a lecturer at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, where he is the course lead for the Performance Football Coaching (distance learning) MSc. His research interests include matchday coach behaviours and the effective design and delivery of presentations.
Hailing from Dublin, John developed a passion for football from an early age, playing to U20 level with Shamrock Rovers. Now captain of the Hertfordshire Senior Men's Gaelic football team, he combines his experience as a player with a deep interest in communication within sport.
Fluent in Spanish and a head of faculty for languages, John also specialises in professional development in education and is developing an in-game framework that improves player-to-player and manager-to-player communication to enhance performance.
Max born and raised from Leicester has always been fascinated with sports, statistics, psychology and ways to improve performance! He made his way to Leeds Beckett University to study science of sports performance to where he found Minute 9.
Growing up he’s always wanted to make the difference and now he can do so at the start of his career in the world of sports by helping teams improve their strategies and communication.
Currently immersed in the academic and practical aspects of football coaching, Matthew is pursuing a degree in Performance Football Coaching at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. His dedication to advancing in the field is further demonstrated by his ongoing work toward achieving the UEFA B Coaching Licence.
Matthew also holds an FA Level 2 in Talent Identification, which reflects his keen eye for spotting and nurturing potential in players. His interests extend to sport psychology, with a particular focus on its application in the development phase of athletes.
Harry is a dedicated sportsman excelling in rugby (Gloucester RFC), as well as cricket and weightlifting, representing his club in domestic and international competitions. Harry has a keen interest in sport psychology and gains valuable experience working at Minute9.
Born in a quiet town in Dorset, Sammy is driven by a desire to leave a positive legacy through a results over tradition mentality. His journey has been unique: from becoming the National League’s youngest coach with back-to-back promotions, to serving as football’s first Substitutions Coach, to leading an innovation department in the U.S. He is also the author of the book Finishers.
Most recently, he has modernised the way referees are profiled and understood, working with MLS teams to apply these insights.
Is a lecturer and applied practitioner in sport and performance, based at Leeds Beckett University and working with the English Football Association. His expertise lies in coach education, player development, and the psychology of high performance environments.
Through his dual academic and applied roles, David bridges research and practice - supporting coaches in creating positive, evidence-based learning environments while also contributing to the FA’s work in shaping the next generation of English coaches.
Jack of many sports, but master of none Alice turned her attention to Sports and Exercise Psychology. With a keen interest in transitions Alice completed her PhD investigating the Junior to Senior Transition within professional women's football at Liverpool John Moores University.
Since then she has worked as a HCPC sports psychologist within professional women's football in the Womens Super League (Everton FC) and at England Table Tennis. Currently, Alice works at GB Cycling as the senior performance psychologist.
Born in London, Jonah has always had a deep passion for sport, with everything in his life revolving around the subject. He holds a degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Loughborough University and is pursuing a master’s in the same field to further his expertise in Madrid. Jonah has an obsessive interest in understanding the psychological side of performance and is gaining pivotal practical experience working at Minute9.
Matt grew up playing and watching a wide range of team sports, and this love of sport guided him into a career in primary teaching, where he specialised in PE. After eight years in the classroom, his curiosity about the psychology of sport led him back into higher education to explore the field more deeply. He has since worked as a university lecturer and published numerous research studies focused on leadership and team dynamics. At Minute9, Matt brings this blend of practical experience, academic knowledge, and critical thinking to support the team’s work.
A Premier League referee from 2014 to 2025, Graham has also enjoyed a long and distinguished business career. He has highly developed transferable skills covering decision making, communication, leadership and conflict resolution, among others.
He uses his regular column in The Telegraph to explain how match officials in football and other sports go about their business. Even decisions that cannot be defended can invariably be explained.
Graham also runs a consultancy helping businesses and organisations improve their decision-making processes with a view to improving outcomes.
